Grandma´s shoe / Mom´s shoe

The photographic series “Grandma’s Shoe and Mom’s Shoe” is a personal reflection on the loss of the artist’s grandmother and mother. The shoes, serving as symbols of their absence, become central motifs in this series. After the grandmother’s passing, the artist discovered a multitude of shoes in her house and decided to capture them photographically. Years later, following the unexpected death of her mother, she expanded this series, staging herself with her mother’s clothes and shoes.

The shoes are not merely viewed as physical objects but also as carriers of memories and personalities. By wearing her grandmother’s and mother’s shoes, the artist experiences a profound connection to their lives and personalities. The series leads her to confront the theme of death and her own mortality, resulting in a deeper appreciation for life and a more conscious way of living.

“Grandma’s Shoe and Mom’s Shoe” is an emotional and introspective exploration of loss, memory, and continuation. It raises questions about the meaning of life and one’s own existence, leaving the viewer with a thoughtful impression about impermanence and the significance of personal relationships.
